IMS本社オフィス：The Pijp (IMS HQ)
クライアントIMSは水回りや空調機器などを主に扱う商社。顧客が直接このオフィスを訪れることはほとんどなく、社内スタッフのモチベーションアップと新規スタッフ獲得のため企業イメージアップを計る改装であった。頭上の巨大なオブジェはクライアントが取り扱う水回りや空調機器の配管をモチーフにしたもの。実際に設備工事に用いられるスパイラルダクトを直径75センチで特注製作した。この企業が扱う商品のイメージを具現化し、デザインのメインにすることで、社員達が愛着を持てるオフィスになるのではないかと考えた。
IMS is a general plumbing and air conditioning equipment trading company. The Headquarter office was a bland space with no strong characteristics or special features. As clients rarely visit the office, the staff is left in an environment detached from any stimulating and motivating aspects. Furthermore, the layout was creating stress and provided no space for relaxation. The refurbishment project addresses these points aiming to improve the company’s image and provide a more attractive workplace.
Additionally to the clean lines of the renewed open space, with clear functionality, partially glass clad meeting spaces, and a kitchen and break room, the main feature of the new design is the sculptural element hanging from the ceiling for most of the office open space.
The custom-made sculpture is produced using 75cm diameter spiral ducts. The same spiral ducts that are used in actual equipment constructions. The duct spirals from the entrance, over the desks, to reach the other side of the room. The product the company is dealing with becomes an architectonic element of the office interior, fastening the links between the employees, the products, and their work environment in a playful and cheerful fashion.
